How to Use Your Digital Camera to Make Money in Photography

Practically everyone I know has a digital camera these days but most of them have no idea how they can use those cameras to make money. But before you try to earn some extra cash with your brand new Canon or Nikon you need to understand that the camera is only a tool. You can buy the most expensive Digital SLR you can find in the store and still not make a dime in this field. Alternatively, you can buy the cheapest point-and-shoot that the store offers and make a ton of money with it if you know what you are doing.

One of the biggest keys to making photography a profitable business is learning everything you can about photography. Read books and articles and study every picture you come across. When you examine any image try to think how the photographer took the picture. What was the possible shutter speed? What was the aperture set at? What would you improve on in the picture? What message is the photographer trying to get across with the composition of the image? You don't have to become an expert but you should be very confident that you know what you are doing when you are taking pictures around town.

To determine how you are going to go about earning money with your camera you need to decide what kinds of photography you are most passionate about. If you are more of a stay-at-home person you can make a decent income selling your pictures online with micro stock photography websites. If you love to work with people you can shoot family portraits, wedding pictures and senior portraits. If you love animals there is a huge market for pet photography and people will pay good money for a family picture with their cat or dog.

If you just don't know where to begin there is a [http://moneywithphotography.net/free-photography-email-course-one.html]free photography course that you can take and read from your email that will teach you 7 of the best ways to make a lot of money with your photography. It's a 7 day ecourse and is a great way to spark some ideas and give you some tips if you really want to use your digital camera to earn extra money.

How To Shoot Good Digital Video With Your Camcorder

Let me tell you from experience how important it is to know how to shoot good digital video with your camcorder before going on that vacation or filming that big event. When I was getting married my sister offered to film the happy day for me with her new camcorder, I agreed as it would save money on the wedding as a videographer could get quite expensive.

Let me tell you how wrong I was, the digital video was dark, shaky and blurred anytime she went into zoom or moved around the room. The sound was off and muffled and it was more of a headache to watch rather than a joy. In a nutshell, I wish I spent money on a good digital video shooting.

I don’t want people to make the same mistake that I did so to spread the word on my learning experience I would like to pass on some great tips on how to shoot good digital video with your Minidv camcorder.

Tip #1 - Do not record while walking or moving about as the digital camcorder cannot stay focused on a moving object. Choose a place to stand and begin by recording a starting point for a few seconds before moving onto the next object. Slowly and carefully pan the camcorder to the next point of focus and hold there for a few more seconds before you stop shooting.

Tip #2 - Avoid excessive zooming of objects, not only does it kill the camcorder battery faster, it can give the viewers a crazy headache. If there were a moment you’d like to catch up close, stand still and take your time while zooming and shooting video, also try to avoid any quick motions, as the image will blur.

Tip #3 - Make sure that the lighting around you is bright enough and do not point the camcorder lens directly facing sunlight, not only can this damage the video camera lens, it will also blacken the images making for an unpleasant movie. If you plan to be indoors, I suggest you invest in a camcorder light attachment that can easily be placed onto the video camera and turned on if needed.

Tip #4 - Last but not least, my favorite camcorder accessory by far has to be a Tripod. You can buy a cheap little mini table tripod for simple videos or you can invest in a larger stand up tripod for longer shooting of video. By using a tripod when recording, you can be assured that your images will not be shaky nor will the movie look amateur.

Garmin Oregon and Colorado GPS Review

Garmin has produced some great handheld GPS receivers over the last few years including the 60csx which we depend on during our on the job back country trips. This unit basically works to provide accuracy and repeatability 90 percent of the time. Recently two new models have been released to replace or improve on the 60csx.

The first model is called the Colorado and at a distance its profile looks similar to that of the venerable 60. However up close you will find that its display screen is much larger and it does not have any physical keys for data input. At the top of the unit is a large wheel similar to that found on some portable music players that are so popular. The larger 3 inch TIFT screen is an improvement however it is not as easy to view in full sunlight as older Garmin models. If you are into Geocahing then this unit will make playing the game a lot easier since you can download data directly making the exercise essentially paperless.

The Garmin Oregon is the newest of the handheld mapping GPS models to enter the market. Like the Colorado it has the larger 3 inch screen which makes viewing map details much easier. The physical texture of the screen is not as shiny as the Colorado which reduces the amount of reflection during daylight operations. However daylight viewing in full sunlight is also poor even with full backlighting. The largest difference comes from the fact that both the antennae and wheel are missing from this unit. The Oregon's inputs with exception of 3 buttons including the power on are done via touch screen. This is a great improvement in terms of ease of use but also reduces the size of the receiver.

Again this new unit has many features specifically designed for Geocaching. You have the option of purchasing both units in a low cost base form (model 300) that will give you a lot of great features. However you also have the option of purchasing the 400 series models that feature enhanced mapping features that include coastal and inland nautical maps covering most of the US and Bahamas. The "C" model includes charts that cover coastal waters and the Great Lakes and the" I" model has detailed navigation charts for inland lakes. In addition the model 400t has preloaded topographic maps of the entire US with the ability to use SD cards to add detailed maps of some National Parks and Forests. Both models allow you to install MapSource cards that will give you turn by turn street navigation capability.
In terms of performance we found that both the Colorado and Oregon worked very well. However they did not appear to be as accurate as some of the older Garmin models such as the 76s and 60sx. The two new units seem to have more track drift than the older units. Satellite acquisition was much slower than expected but that may be because amount of mapping software installed in each unit.

Both the Oregon and Colorado have a lot of great features but one feature that we really would like to see is ability to clearly view the display in full sunlight without using excessive power drain of backlighting. When you are in the bush battery management is a priority and neither unit is very efficient. An increase in battery life would be greatly appreciated. At this time we will hold off purchasing any additional Colorado or Oregon GPS units until further improvements are made. We will continue to monitor all the software and hardware improvements as they become available.

Golf GPS or Laser Rangefinder?

Modern golfers are finding the need for high tech gadgets to speed up their golf rounds. We are a tech crazy culture, and golf has never been left behind. New high tech clubs and balls; and now high tech distance range finding equipment. It makes sense, we love golf, we love high tech, and we love to compete; golf rangefinders satisfy our desires.

While the above paragraph is written in a flip manner and we could, of course, do without such high tech equipment; these little devices do help the average player speed his game and shoot lower scores. And we golfers will do anything to shave a couple of strokes and get home to our family a half an hour early. So golfers are embracing the new laser range finders and the golf GPS units. Let's face it, pacing off yardage is time consuming and inaccurate. I am always amused when I am playing a new course with a local member and he tells you things like; this hole plays a little shorter than the marker says, or you may need more club than you think. Are any of these fairway markers ever right? And to be fair, I am never in the fairway, so my pacing back to the plaque is never correct. But these new devices are it! Absolutely it!

I played all of last year with a handheld golf GPS unit, and I was amazed. I was actually hitting greens and making pars and birdies. My handicap was reduced and I went from a somewhat deliberate player to a speedy pants. At the same time one of my buddies in the foursome got himself a laser rangefinder and he started to shoot lower scores and play faster too. I really love this game improvement. I have always been a kind of snooty nose about golf purity, but I like the results I am seeing with this technology. The golf GPS lets me glance down, see the yardage, pull a club and fire. My buddy with the laser range finder does the same, except he needs line of sight. If he is behind a hill he just pops on top of the hill, shoots the flag and then paces back to his ball. He is a perfectionist, I just want the front, back and center of the green, after that I can guess pretty close as to where the pin is. On the other hand, he can shoot bunkers from the tee, or in front of the green, whereas my inexpensive golf GPS only has certain points plotted. However, some of the more expensive golf GPS units will give you the distance to any place you can touch, but I will have to wait until next year to get one of those.

So my advice is to get one, you will love it. I like the golf GPS, but Bushnell makes a laser rangefinder with slope determination now, which is very cool. The slope feature lets you shoot an up-hill, or down-hill pin and will give you the effective yardage the hole will play, so you do not have to guess how much up-hill, or down-hill you are. On the GPS side, the new OnPar golf GPS will keep your score, measure your shots, and even give you club selections, all at a single touch. The best news is that you can save strokes and time with inexpensive units; you do not need to get all of the bells and whistles. I am a believer, golf GPS and golf laser rangefinders are here to stay.

Ebike - The Electric Scooter Bike

When considering buying a motorized vehicle for use around town, most people stick to looking at cars or motorcycles, but there are some other choices you may not have considered. For instance, an electric scooter can bridge the gap between bike and motorcycle by providing you with a simple to use, easy and cheap to fuel vehicle that gets you from place to place as fast as you need to go. Unlike as with a traditional bicycle, an electric scooter does not require pedaling and can reach speeds of up to 20 miles per hour, but it does not require you to get a motorcycle license to operate it, either.

An ebike scooter is very cheap to buy and operate. Because it runs on an electric battery, the only fuel you need to put into it comes out of your electric bill, and that is not much at all. Usually, it comes out to around ten cents for a 25 mile charge, as opposed to gas, which can cost up to thirty or forty times that price. The vehicle itself is cheaper, as well. Scooters typically range in price from just under a thousand to five thousand dollars, unlike cars which start from ten thousand, or motor cycles which start somewhere in between the two.

Ebike scooters are environmentally friendly as well, since they do not produce any harmful exhaust as they operate. The only pollution from an ebike comes from whatever the local power plant puts out and the possibility of improper battery disposal. Ebikes do use high capacity batteries though, which must be disposed of correctly and cannot just be thrown out. Fortunately, these high capacity batteries also last a very long time so this does not come up often.

Motor scooters can be operated by anyone who can ride a bike and they do not require a special license to drive them. Of course, children should probably not be using a motor scooter, but they make great substitutes for bikes on longer errands like getting groceries or commuting to and from work across town.

These motor scooter ebikes do not need pedaling, although it is an option on many of them. Most scooter types were designed to let the rider sit down and enjoy the ride. This way, you can get to where you are going without getting out of breath, and the electric powered motor can reach speeds a person would have to work very hard to attain.

Daniel Bing lives and works in south Florida where he is an avid cyclist. He cruises the sunshine with his electric cruiser bike, and actually owns two ebikes. The other is a folding ebike he uses for commuting. You can visit Dan at http://www.uptownebike.com

How To Find The Best Marine GPS For Your Boat

To find the best marine gps, you have to do a lot of comparison shopping and reading about the different brands before making an informed decision. Do some comparison shopping, read the many reviews, and shop around a little bit before making up your mind which is the best marine gps navigational receiver for your needs. A marine gps navigational unit needs to use at least 12 of the 24 satellites calculating your position. All 24 would be the best, of course. And a larger screen for reading and viewing the water below the boat would be ideal. Some of the smaller, handheld or portable marine gps units are not the best because the size takes away from the clarity of the picture. There are several that are up to 7" with a crystal clear LCD touchscreen so you are able to distinguish a rock from a fish when looking at the water or bottom of the lake or ocean.

Another item to consider when hunting for the best marine gps would be the amount of alarms it has on it. Some have alarms for the clock, off-course, anchor drag, too shallow, too deep, proximity, low battery, arrival, waypoint, water temperature and temperature rate of change and there are others, but the best marine gps would have all the alarms for safety reasons. Along with the alarms, one must consider the nightwatch and sunlight modes many of the best marine gps units use to help with the glare from the sun off the water or to help you find your way back in the darkness of the night.

You will need to decide if you are going to purchase a small, handheld or portable model or a larger, 'stay put' type model of marine gps unit. The portable marine gps navigational units are smaller and fit in a pocket or a purse. However some of the bigger units can be taken out and used in a vehicle such as an RV or a car, but the portable ones are made for walking, hiking, biking and moving about the city with easy. Both styles of marine gps receivers come with the same amount of software and options, it just depends on which you prefer to have outside of the boat.

Do you want to be entertained? Some of the marine gps navigational units come with an audio voice player to play books on tape, others, you have to purchase a subscription to something like XM radio or a weather channel, which is not a bad idea since the weather changes rapidly and you want to be on top of things when the weather starts to change.

Above all, make sure the best marine gps unit has enough software to accommodate all you want to do while out in the boat, such as find fish or avoid large chucks of debris. These things can be done and avoided by the type of software available to download or that has already been downloaded into the marine gps unit. Do you have to purchase more antennas? Or extra cords for your computer to be compatible? These are questions you need to ask yourself and the salesperson behind the counter or on the other end of the website.

Digital SLR Camera Buying Secrets

Digital SLR camera buying makes more and more sense to both professionals and amateurs. Even when film cameras were much more cheaper than digital SLR's, people still tried buying them, as it made a lot of sense, with all the benefits that justified the higher price.

SLR Benefits

There are two main advantages to SLR cameras:

1. You can change the lenses on your digital SLR camera when you need to, so the photos you take have an increased quality. You can use lenses designed for telephoto, wide-angle, portrait, or any other modes.

2.Thanks to the viewfinder of the SLR, the photographer can see the preview of the image just like the lens sees it. In cameras that have the lens attached, you don't see the image from the exact viewpoint of the lens, so there is a small difference between what you see and what you get. If you want the real deal, you need a digital SLR.

Digital SLRs and lenses

In most cases, digital SLRs that you can buy these days will take the lenses that film cameras did, so if you already have lenses for your film camera, you can use them on the digital SLR as well.

It's easy to change the lenses on a camera, but you should keep in mind something: a 35mm lens is made so it projects the image on a frame of the same size, but the camera's image sensor is smaller than the frame is. That's why the SLR multiplies that lens focal length by 1.5.

In many cases, this can be something good, as a 200mm lens becomes as good as a 300mm, which is much more expensive. But, in other cases, a 24mm wide lens would turn in a 36mm, and the photographer might not want that.

All in all, the multiplier of the focal length is a bit of a mixed blessing. If you're using a long lens, the zoom will be much better, but in the case of a wide lens, the full scene might not be fully captured this way.

Kodak and Canon are the first to launch a digital SLR full frame camera. They're quite expensive though, but they come with a sensor that is the same size as the 35mm frame.

There are many other manufacturers that are going to launch SLR cameras that are fully integrated with lenses and they will work by getting the image on the sensor directly, instead of using an angle.

Getting [http://gooddigitalcameras.com]the perfect SLR camera, is never an easy thing, especially with the way digital technology is constantly changing. Fortunately, there are plenty of helpful websites online, that can narrow down your search and help you find the DSLR camera with all the [http://cameraproblems.com]features important to you.
