3 Top Digital Camera Brands Unveil New Models

It's a brand new year and as 2010 starts, people are presented with new and ever advancing technology. Take for instance the digital camera.

In the past year, several new models of digital cameras were introduced to the market. But since technological advancement never ceases and continues to move forward at a fast pace, more feature-packed units are being created.

Three top brands - Olympus, Sony and Panasonic -- have just unveiled their latest creations. Of the three, Olympus released the most number of new models at six followed by Sony at five and Panasonic at two.

Olympus announced the release of its six new digital cameras just before the start of the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show. The new models are for the brand's Stylus, Stylus-Tough and FE series. Specifically, they are the Stylus-Tough 3000, 5010, 7030, 7040, FE-47 and FE-4020. All come in different colors and thickness.

The Stylus-Tough 3000 is only the first of the series to be released this year. Available in vibrant colors, it promises to be a tough gadget which is capable of surviving shocks, water, very low temperature and shakes. This versatile camera has a resolution of 12 megapixels and is the pioneer in HD movie capture. It has magic filters and is capable of providing a perfect shot preview.

The Olympus FE models are thinner ranging from only 0.9 inch to 1.1 inches thick. The two units have a higher resolution of 14 megapixels and are more affordable at only more than $120 to $150. They share the same LCD size with the other series at 2.7 inches.

Sony for its part revealed the creation of five new Cyber-shot compact digital cameras. One of them is the first CCD-based utilizing the sweep panorama technology. The five latest models are the DSC-W370, DSC-W350, DSC-W330, DSC-W310 and the DSC-S2100.

The Sony W370 and W350 models share the same 14 megapixel imaging but differ in LCD size by a margin of only 0.3 inch. They feature the Optical SteadyShot which helps in stabilizing images and prevent blurring especially when the camera is shaken. Both have USB 2.0 high speed connectivity for fast transfer of images from the digital camera to the computer. These two are the high end models each commanding a price of more than $200.

The Sony W330 boasts of a 14 megapixel CCD imager and a 3.0-inch LCD. Both the W310 and the S2100 models have the same 12 megapixel CCD imager but not in terms of LCD size.

Finally, Panasonic has just launched its three new Lumix FH-series models. These are the DMC-FH20, DMC-FH3 and the DMC-FH1. All except for the FH1 unit feature 14 megapixels of image dimensions and come in great colors that can match your lifestyle. While these digital cameras are rather slim and small they can fit your pocket, they are still packed with features to allow users to capture quality images.

In addition to the FH-series, two new Lumix FP-series have been unveiled as well. They are the DMC-FP3 and DMC-FP1. These slim digicams boast of a unique folded lens design.
